BIG DATA

WORKSTREAM LEAD: Setumo Mohapi

Objectives with big data

  • Provide accurate and information-rich data to actors in society who need to make difficult decisions about how to manage the Covid-19 pandemic. Two types of decision-makers are enabled by empowered data:
  • Organizations with authority to influence the success of broad social dynamics such as policymaking, targeted incident responses, or general preventative measures
  • Individuals and communities with an interest to maximize individual and social value
  • Provide predictive insights into spread and impact dynamics of the crisis and enable society’s ability to be proactive in measures that reduce the curve of growth and social and economic impact of the spread.
  • Provide confidence in the population about the handling of the crisis
  • Allow for better planning social and economic planning

Demonstrate cleansed data to Government using stage 1 data sources:
Demonstrate industry capabilities using local data (incidents at an IEC VD-level with public and private testing and treatment site locations)
Creation of pop-up type emergency services at “next hit” locations based on data analysis.
Create APIs from data cleansing platform to enable access by data processing platforms
Create data views from multiple platforms Different cloud providers to provide current status and predictive data capabilities for different use cases
Demonstrate capabilities:
Proactively dispatch emergency services based on probability metrics – trigger based
Build a forecast map based on people movement and new cases identified
Determine health and service gaps in areas deemed to be high risk.
Use data to activate telehealth services to potential high-risk area
Determine movement of citizen per geography. Use the data to predict the spread route of covid-19
