INFRASTRUCTURE

WORKSTREAM LEAD: Suveer Ramdhani

OVERVIEW

Fibre optic infrastructure plays a critical role in enabling telecommunications infrastructure. It is essential for the backhaul of mobile network traffic, as well as other technologies that need capacity to deliver services to end users. It plays a cross cutting role through the telecoms sector.

The driving force behind the use of fibre optics is the large and rapidly increasing commercial and consumer demand for stable telecommunication capacity.

Fibre optic technology is capable of providing the required large and scalable information carrying capacity needed to connect society to the digital economy.

This is essential as more people work from home and make use of high bandwidth intensive applications to stay in contact. It also allows for students to receive ongoing education.
